AI Writing Tip: To sound more human in your writing, travel through time. Human writing can flow naturally between past, present, and future. AI writing tends to be chronologically linear. 

Human writers tend to weave through different time frames, much in the same way a human mind can wander. Writers have no problem traveling between past, present, and future.

By contrast, ChatGPT often struggles with fluidity. It feels better to stick to a rigid, linear timeline. It goes against ChatGPT’s nature to be dynamic and unpredictable. 

Ask ChatGPT: “How has technology evolved over the years?”and it will probably return to you a chronological list: "In the past, we had basic tools. Then came the Industrial Revolution, followed by the digital age, and now we have advanced AI and machine learning technologies." Is this true? Technically, yes. But there’s no nuanced transition that you’d see in a piece of human writing. 

Approaching the same question, a human writer might respond: "While today we marvel at the advancements in AI, it’s fascinating to think back to the simple tools our ancestors used. The journey from rudimentary implements to the sophisticated technologies we have now is a testament to human ingenuity. As we look to the future, what innovations might await us?" This phrasing encompasses personal reflections, present observations, and future speculation, all in short order. 

ChatGPT was designed to bring clarity and coherence to things; after all, it’s trained on a set of rules. So the linear approach makes sense, especially for straightforward information delivery. But you won’t find the intricate and delightful storytelling quality often found in human work.
